    The nation's organic farms and ranches have higher average sales and higher average production expenses than U.S. farms overall, according to results of the 2008 Organic Production Survey released today by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Sherman, Miller Elected to SWCD Board PDF Print E-mail

Jim Sherman and John Miller were elected to the Delaware SWCD Board of Supervisors at the District's Annual Meeting held August 13, 2009 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.  Both will begin three-year terms in January, 2010.

This year's Annual Meeting, which for the first time was held jointly with the Delaware County Farm Bureau, was attended by 150 people.  ARADA Farms, family farm of the Smart family, was recognized as Conservation Farmers of the Year, and Justin Mellen, was awarded the SWCD Dick O'Keefe Memorial Scholarship.
